Fahrettin Aykut, the owner and Head Designer of FAAR Architecture, established FAAR Art & Design to foster a collective awareness among artists, craftsmen, and designers. His vision is to integrate the creative process from the initial product design stage to the final production process. By bringing together various talents and disciplines, FAAR Art & Design aims to create a collaborative environment that nurtures innovation and artistic expression. This approach ensures that every project, whether a piece of furniture or a large-scale installation, benefits from a diverse pool of expertise and creativity.
The design subjects of the FAAR platform are notably diverse, encompassing everything from hotel designs to coffee tables and conceptual installations. Art and design coexist on multiple levels, with various applications and derivatives in our daily lives. This philosophy underscores the belief that art should not be confined to galleries or museums but should permeate everyday objects and environments. By integrating art into functional designs, FAAR Art & Design seeks to enhance the aesthetic and cultural value of everyday items, making art an integral part of daily life.
As a designer who primarily collaborates with local artisans and resources, Fahrettin Aykut is continually searching for new and exciting craftsmen and producers. This commitment to local talent is evident in FAAR's recent projects. Their last exhibition showcased artworks created using various tapestry techniques. Currently, they are working on a traditional tapestry and carpet collection with young artists in a village in Muğla, Turkey, known for its exclusive carpet production. In addition, FAAR is addressing the decline of Turkey's artisanship culture by collaborating with master craftsmen of copper products in the Urfa and Mardin regions. They are also preparing a collection with a team of artists and designers for a London-based mosaic firm, illustrating the international scope of their projects.
FAAR Art & Design manages the creation and curation of collections while overseeing design elements and production with a dedicated team under Fahrettin Aykut's direction. This method ensures that art becomes an integral part of architectural elements, not merely decorative additions. Their goal is to create "tailor-made" concepts, including architectural elements, furniture, accessories, branding colors, and themes, as well as design collections for brands and individuals. Another vital aspect of FAAR's mission is to support local craftsmen in the production process, encouraging their growth despite the challenges posed by global manufacturers. By helping artists enhance their connections and making artworks affordable and accessible, FAAR Art & Design aims to preserve and revitalize traditional crafts and integrate them into contemporary design.
